NEW YORK CITY PLAYERS

Inside an old sailors home at snug Harbor, Staten Island, New York City Players Incoming Theater Division hosted an experience around the theme of housing, penned by ITD members based on their individual experiences regarding their living situation in coming to New York. The experience conjured imagined domestic situations inside of an actual domestic situation— a retired sailors home— long since abandoned. Audiences were guided through the house room by room, each providing a biographical sketch put together in collaboration with the ensemble. the overall experience was threaded together by a young fictional couple’s journey and by live original music by Enoch Ntunga and Michael Odom.

Incoming Theater Division is a New York City Players program that grew out of Tory Vazquez’s work at The Kitchen with students from Liberty High School in Manhattan. Since 2016, ITD has presented an annual performance generated by an ensemble.
