Buildings I & II

Part I is set against the backdrop of a rapidly changing Wall Street neighborhood, present day. Erla, Michael and John are siblings in a large Irish-American family brought together by the death of their powerful father. They are the only three named in the will and need to decide the fate of an office building which contains the family’s pub. John wants to respect their father’s wishes to keep and run the bar. Michael and Erla want to sell the whole building. When Erla and Michael fail to find a buyer, John steps in with a suspicious yet lucrative rental for the upper floors. The three siblings struggle to gain control and protect this distressed asset.

Part II begins months later at another bar, where Erla tells her friend Andie what happened with the building. Andie tells Erla about needing a job and the subject of Frank, Erla’s boyfriend, comes up. Erla then asks Andie if Andie thinks Erla is A.I..

At a bar in Chicago Erla strikes up a conversation with a stranger. The stranger tries to walk Erla home and Frank shows up at the bar.

Time passes. Death as Grim Reaper comes for Erla. Erla informs Death that she can’t go with Death because of her probable A.I. status. She asks Death what happened to Frank.

Years later, Erla is in hospital, and her sons Bobby and Bruce are there. Frank kneels by Erla’s deathbed, both thinking this must be too good to be true. Erla says she would wait forever for Frank.
